Starting a set with a Taylor Swift cover is a sure fire way to gain my attention, and ThirdStory took “Style” - as well as 4 other covers to another level, with all three vocalists sometimes switching off and other times bringing their voices together for incredible harmonies.
ThirdStory is a powerhouse of musicians, Elliott Skinner, Richard Saunders, and Ben Lusher, that came to popularity about a year and a half ago with a beautiful cover of Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” - which has just under 2 million views on Youtube. It’s no surprise that the crowd in at The Ogden Theatre in Denver showed up to Tori Kelly’s headlining show early to sing along with these talented boys.
Their cover songs were special, not just replaying a song that the audience already knew, but really making them their own. Not only was it a fun way to pull a crowd in, playing songs they love and showing off their incredible talent at the same time, but by the end of their set, they had completely won the crowd over.
The show on Thursday came at an exciting time for the band, with their 1st EP of original songs coming out just the next day. The boys closed the set with one of these original songs, which captivated the crowd just as much, if not more than their covers.
