Q&A with Glass Mansions: "We Are so Proud of What We've Been Creating Lately."

Glass Mansions are gearing up to take over in 2017 with their vibrant new video for "Nightswimming" out now, tour dates throughout March and more music planned for the rest of the year. The South Carolina-based electro-pop/rock group have been hard at work since the release of their single, "Matches" last year, and it's quickly paying off. Fans can watch the video for "Nightswimming" and check out upcoming tour dates (including a stint at SXSW this spring) below!

Interview by Dom Vigil

Can you tell us a little bit about Glass Mansions for anyone who might not be familiar?

Unapologetic and raw, soulful electro-pop. The hardest working DIY band you'll find. Our magic lies in our live shows - which are always high energy, intimate, and one of a kind.

You guys just kicked off the new year with the music video for your newest single, “NIGHTSWIMMING.” What inspired this track?

NIGHTSWIMMING has been a long time coming for us. The track is inspired by nostalgia and a bittersweet longing for adventure and the unknown...surrendering to the feeling of being lost. We're moving in a more electro-heavy direction, and to do so we needed to take a step back and look at where we started, so NIGHTSWIMMING became the first single of the year and a great transition for us.

How was the filming of the video? Was there anything you were particularly excited about when it came to shooting?

Filming the music video for NIGHTSWIMMING was a blast! We shot it during the summer last year and although you can't tell, we were sweating our asses off in all the full band live shots. We filmed on top of a mall parking deck and all the night time pool shoots at a rooftop hotel pool. Getting to float around in the water for hours on a hot summer night, sign me up!

“NIGHTSWIMMING” follows your single, “Matches,” which you guys released last year. Can fans expect any more new music coming soon?

YES! We have tons more music to release this year, single by single, and will be going back into the studio again in late Spring to record even more. We truly feel like we are sitting on the very best music that we've ever written to date and are dying to get it out there. For a sneak peek of these new songs, we WILL be playing them out on the road for the first time on our upcoming SXSW March tour :)

Do you have any big goals in mind for any upcoming new music?

We're very focused on growing our Spotify audience this year and putting out new music more frequently over the next few months, each single with a new music video. We're also getting way more technical and experimental with our live show instrumentation - so this year is going to be all about challenging ourselves as musicians and trying new things out sonically when writing new material.

Could fans expect to see Glass Mansions out on the road any time soon?

Yes! We very recently announced our SXSW March Tour and are so unbelievably excited to get back out on the road!

What are you looking forward to the most in 2017?

Releasing new music, to be honest. We are so proud of what we've been creating lately and I think fans and new listeners will be very pleasantly surprised - this is a new chapter for us and it feels so right in a way that I can't explain but that I know people will feel in our live shows.

Thank you for taking the time to talk with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Thanks for reaching out! Additionally, we'd just like to say - take a chance on us! We'd love to make new friends in all the new cities we'll be hitting on tour :)
