INTERVIEW: FOXTRAX Talk About Their Growth Since "The Cabin" and New Music

Alternative rock trio FOXTRAX have been busy since the release of their EP, The Cabin last year. Over the summer, the band toured the country with Barnes Courtney and are just getting ready to hit the road on the west coast for their Nothing Lasts Forever tour, playing favorites from The Cabin as well as some new music that they've been releasing over the past few months. With three new singles out now and another planned to release in January, FOXTRAX aren't showing any signs of slowing down, even as the year comes to an end. The last time we spoke, you had just released your EP, The Cabin. Now that it has been out for over a year, what on the EP are you the most proud of?

I think we are all really proud of Underwater! To create such a fun and upbeat tune like that right out of the gate is something we'll always hold with us even as we mature as musicians!

How do you feel you’ve grown as musicians since the release of The Cabin?

We have grown in every way imaginable I think. Our songwriting and arranging is so much more refined. All of us are infinitely better at our instruments than we were then and it has been a ton of fun putting those new skills to good use!

Do you feel that you learned any important lessons while writing and recording those songs that you’ll be able to take with you moving forward?

I think we learned an important lesson about subtlety in the recording process. For example, to make a song have a lot more energy you don't really need to play your instrument that much harder. Sometimes a little goes a long way.

What have been some of the highlights of the year following the release of the EP?

We went on tour with Barns Courtney this past summer and recorded a new EP entitled "Nothing Lasts Forever." Very stoked how everything sounds!

Now, you’re ready to release some new music and have actually shared a few new singles for fans. What goals have you had in mind when working on this new material?

Our goal is the same now as it was when we started. We just hope to inspire people in a major way. We want to make a difference in people lives and if we can do that for even one person than we have succeeded!

Most recently, you released your new single, “Nothing Lasts Forever.” What inspired this song?

I think sometimes in life things can be really challenging and its important to remind yourself that things will get better. The bad times in life don't last forever!

With “Nothing Lasts Forever” and “Gray Morning” out now, can fans expect some more new music soon?

So we just released a single called "Everything's Changing," which we are very stoked about! Fans should be on the look out for another song coming out in the end of January!

Do you have any other big plans for 2017 as it begins to wind down?

We are about to tour the west coast which is really exciting! Something about the Pacific Northwest just really pumps us up. The air just smells amazing up there so really looking forward to getting back there!

Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Thanks so much for having us! Remember to catch your dreams before they slip away!
