11 Colorado Shows You Need to Catch in August
With summer winding down and school starting at the end of the month, now is the perfect time to make it out to some great concerts before your schedule fills up and it becomes too chilly to properly enjoy a good Red Rocks or Fiddler's Green show! With an ever expanding amount of venues in Colorado, there is no shortage of great artists coming through town this month, giving you plenty of shows to choose from. Whether a huge outdoor show like Green Day, Young The Giant or Die Antwoord or a smaller, more low key performance from Vesperteen or Jason Richardson is what you're looking for, there are plenty of upcoming shows that you need to see in August. In order to keep things as diverse and fun as possible, we recommend checking out Colony House's free show in Boulder or even One OK Rock's headliner with a diverse lineup at The Gothic.
No matter what you do this month, you certainly don't want to miss the first annual Engage Music Festival, a local's only fest featuring some of the states best home-grown artists!
As always, let us know which shows you're excited to see this month in the comments! Who should we check out in this month? Let us know!
8/9 - Green Day @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
With school back in session soon, what better way to say farewell to summer and late nights than one last concert at Fiddler's Green? (Although we hope this won't be your last show there this season, it's certainly a killer one.) Green Day brought their incredible live show to 1st Bank Center in Broomfield earlier this year, and at an outdoor venue, things only promise to get more wild. With Catfish and the Bottlemen opening, this show will be great from start to finish!
8/9 - One OK Rock @ The Gothic Theatre
If a massive outdoor show isn't really your style (it's cool, they're not for everyone) then maybe One OK Rock's upcoming headlining gig at The Gothic will be more your speed. The band, who normally plays to massive arenas back home in Japan are taking things to a much smaller stage here in Denver, but their show still promises to be larger than life. The lineup is diverse and exciting as well, with Palisades and Set It Off opening things up!
8/11 - Vesperteen @ The Moon Room
If you're in the mood for something a little more low key, then look no further. Discover some great new music when pop/rock artist Vesperteen hits The Moon Room this month! With a sound similar to The 1975 and Bleachers, we can garuentee that this will be the last time you catch Vesperteen in a venue the size of The Moon Room.
8/11 - Colony House @ The Fox Theatre (Free Outdoor Stage)
Yep, you read that right! Colony House and Marlon Williams will be playing a free show outside on The Hill in Boulder! If free doesn't sell you on this unique show, then I don't know what will.
8/12 - Engage Music Festival @ Summit Music Hall
The time has finally come, ladies and gentlemen! The inaugural Engage Music Festival takes over both stages at Summit Music Hall on Saturday, August 12th. The locals only music festival will showcase some of Denver's best rising artists such as AMZY, One Flew West, Tonight We Rise, Postcards, The Coast Is Ours and many more! Prepare for a full day of great local music with tickets starting at only $15.
8/15 - Young The Giant @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Young The Giant are still riding the waves of success following their dynamic new album, Home Of The Strange (released a year ago this month) and a headlining show is the perfect way to celebrate. For those who have fallen in love with Home Of The Strange like we have, then you'll understand why Red Rocks is the perfect setting for this show, and the supporting acts - Joywave and Cold War Kids - make it a must-see.
8/16 - Unwritten Law @ Larimer Lounge
Yeah, you read that right. Unwritten Law. At Larimer Lounge. Do we really need to convince you to go to this? The tiny Denver gig is the kickoff for the band's short 25th Anniversary Tour, which features support from Lost In Society. Honestly, you're doing something wrong if you're not going to this one.
8/16 - Hundred Suns @ The Moon Room
Hundred Suns (featuring Cory Brandan of Norma Jean, Ryan Leger of Every Time I Die and Chris LeMasters of Dead & Divine) will be releasing their debut album, The Prestaliis on August 11th. In support of the upcoming release, the progressive/metal supergroup are currently out on the road with an upcoming show at the small Moon Room in Denver. This intimate performance will be the perfect introduction for first time listeners and those who are anxiously awaiting the band's debut album.
8/20 - Die Antwoord @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre
A Die Antwoord show is an otherworldly experience. Last year, their headlining gig at The Ogden was packed with wild visuals, high energy dance routines and a sense of theatricality that made the price of the ticket well worth it. Many fans left the show wondering how the duo could possibly top that performance and the answer is simple: Red Rocks. The iconic venue will provide the perfect setting for what could possibly be one of the last shows Die Antwoord plays in Colorado. If you catch this show, you're in for a wild night and a real treat. Even if you're just a casual listener, Die Antwoord's live performance is a force to be reckoned with.
8/29 - Jason Richardson @ The Marquis Theater
If you happened to catch Jason Richardson and Luke Holland at The Marquis earlier this year when they opened up for Polyphia, then you probably already have tickets for this show. If for some reason you're sleeping on it though, there are plenty of reasons to make it out. Not only are Jason and Luke both incredible performers, but the opening acts, The Reign of Kindo and Stolas are sure to keep you interested, if not steal the show. This lineup is honestly just perfect.
8/30 - Emo Nite @ The Marquis Theater
Honestly, do we even have to convince you to go to Emo Nite at this point? Over the past year, the trio has reunited From First To Last with Sonny Moore, brought Halsey and Machine Gun Kelly to a very special Emo Nite in New York and even managed to place their clothing line in Urban Outfitters stores across the country. When they come through Denver, it's a guaranteed fun night of drinking, great music and sing alongs with friends. Grab your ticket now before it inevatably sells out again!
