10 Colorado Concerts You Can't Miss in December
2017 might be winding down, but for the Colorado music scene, things are still busier than ever. Although not many tours come through town this time of the year, there are a ton of local artists playing all over the state throughout the month of December. If you're looking for an excuse to get out of the house and ditch your family, a unique way to ring in the New Year or maybe you just want to discover some great new music, we've got you covered!
December is the month for local holiday shows and New Year's Eve bashes, and this year is no exception. Following the already sold-out Not So Silent Night, you can catch Hometown For The Holidays with 888 at Summit Music Hall, or check out the stacked lineup supporting Saints Of Never After at The Marquis the same night. Say farewell to The Coast Is Ours and Montoneros, who are both playing their final shows this month, or say hello to 2018 with Itchy-O or Flobots on New Year's Eve.
As always, let us know which shows you're excited to see this month in the comments! Who should we check out in this month? Let us know!
12/10 - Hundredth @ The Marquis Theater
Following a successful summer on the Vans Warped Tour in support of their daring new album, RARE, Hundredth are currently out on their headlining tour with Gleemer, Tennis System and Spotlights in tow. RARE marked a dramatic change in sound for Hundredth, from aggressive hardcore to a dynamic blend of lush shoegaze and driving post-punk, which makes this a show you don’t want to miss.
12/14 - PRAYERS @ The Bluebird Theater
If you’re looking to discover something new this month, then we recommend checking out PRAYERS’ upcoming show at The Bluebird. The San Diego cholo-goth pioneers put on one hell of a show, and it’s unlike anything else coming through Colorado in December.
12/15 - Saints Of Never After @ The Marquis Theater
There is no shortage of incredible local talent playing all over Colorado this month, but easily one of the most stacked lineups is Saints Of Never After’s headlining gig at The Marquis alongside Almost Maine, The Coast Is Ours, Rain In July and Compliments To The One. Not only is this show only $5 to help you save money during the holiday season, but it is also Star Wars themed, which means all of the bands are sure to have a few fun tricks up their sleeves. This will also sadly be The Coast Is Ours’ farewell show, so come rock out with them one last time!
12/15 - Hometown For The Holidays @ Summit Music Hall
Hometown For The Holidays is always a special occasion in Denver, as it always seems to break Colorado’s next big band and features some of our best local acts. Last year, Redlands took home first place, and the competition is sure to be fierce this time around. Although the full lineup won’t be announced until Not So Silent Night on December 2nd, headliners 888 should be enough to get you out to this show, too.
12/22 - Montoneros @ Skylark Lounge
Indie/math rock quartet, Montoneros have been creating some of Colorado’s most unique tunes for the past three years, but sadly, they called it a day with the departure of frontman Gaston Leone back in September. Thankfully, they’re going to be having one last hurrah before the year comes to an end at Skylark Lounge on the 22nd. This will be your last time to catch these guys live, so come on out and bid them farewell.
12/22 - Tyler Paul Glasgow's 2nd Annual Holiday Extravaganza @ The Marquis Theater
For the second year in a row, Soda Jerk, The Streetlight Company and For The Love of Locals are presenting a charity fundraiser and toy drive to benefit Blue Star Connection, featuring some of Colorado’s best! Bring some toys and gifts and enjoy some incredible performances by This Broken Beat, Matt Rouch and the Noise Upstairs, Rachel James of Dearling, Amanda Hawkins, Valienta, Ian Mahan and Kayla Marque.
12/23 - 3OH!3 @ The Gothic Theatre
Have we mentioned that there are a ton of awesome local shows this month yet? Although they’ve seen massive mainstream success, 3OH!3 are still Colorado born and raised, and they haven’t forgotten it. They’ll be celebrating the holidays with a headlining show at The Gothic this year, and it’s definitely worth ditching family for. When they played The Gothic on New Year's Eve in 2013, the night was wild - from beach balls and balloons to Sean Foreman shaving his beard onstage at midnight - and this show promises to be crazy as well.
12/29, 12/30 & 12/31 - Itchy-O's New Years Trifecta
If you witnessed the madness that was Itchy-O’s Hallowmass at Summit Music Hall in October, then you already know why their new year’s eve celebrations are something you don’t want to miss. (And if you didn’t, check out our photo gallery from the show HERE, then get back to us). The fact of the matter is, Itchy-O sure do know how to put on a show, utilizing the entire venue and taking over all over your senses. Don’t break the bank on New Years at an overpriced show or party and instead, ring in the new year at one of these one of a kind performances.
12/31 - Flobots @ The Marquis Theater
If you didn’t have the chance to catch Flobots’ sold-out hometown show at Larimer Lounge last month, you’re in luck! They’ll be ringing in the new year with another show in Denver at The Marquis Theater on the 31st. The band’s high energy live performance will be even more amped up for this special show, so grab tickets while you can!
12/31 - Decadence @ Colorado Convention Center
Decadence is sort of a no-brainer when it comes to New Year's Eve shows in Denver. With two nights full of incredible artists like Bassnectar, Diplo, Big Gigantic, Armin Van Buuren, Odesza, Gramatik and many, many more, these are two night you’re never going to forget.
